Customer.io Retreat: Hack Week!
This week, the Customer.io team worked from our company retreat in beautiful Sinaia, Romania. We got a lot done! Here are some of the highlights:
API performance improvements. We reduced the number of API calls by half, which should make a big difference to how quickly you can load and use the application. This is especially a big deal for people outside North America (like we all were this week).
Photo hosting. You can now upload images directly from your computer, Dropbox, or any number of other sources. This is powered by the awesome Filepicker (one of our customers).
Improved our save bar (and fixed a bug). When editing emails, a save bar will pop up when you have unsaved changes, making it really easy to save your work. (This also fixed an obscure bug which caused the keyboard to stop working in some situations.)
Switch environments faster, without completely reloading the app. If you change between your production and test environment as much as we do, this is really helpful.
We can now accept unsubscribes over SMTP, which is not only the right thing to do, but also helps improve sender reputation. This is also an interesting first step to some other upcoming work. More soon!
Our scaling engineers improved robustness and performance for the edge servers, which process customer events. As always, this work shouldn’t be noticeable to you, but it’s one of many great pieces of work that the backend team have delivered recently.
